Pitiful Pictureless Post
This post is based on the premise that a pictureless post is better than no post at all.
So, what progress has been made? The socks were finished last week, received gratefully, tried on immediately, and declared to be Great. Yay!
The blanket has about 65% of another stripe/ball knit up. It is more fun now that I'm into the decreasing.
The tesselated hat is no more. It was reincarnated in a different pattern and with the perfected double-layered concave ear cozies, but it is not finished yet either.
The vest? Haven't touched it.
But there has been some other knitting.
Last week was a regular swatchorama as I spent every spare moment of the week preparing before and after swatches for a felting course that I started teaching last Saturday. In addition to the swatches I also managed to knit and felt one new bowl as a class sample. It was nothing exotic, one ball of Lopi. I have another one on the needles but this is a yarn that I have not felted before, Paton's SWS (Soy Wool Stripes) but I have seen an excellent bag done with it and am looking forward to seeing how my little bowl turns out.
So the next post will have LOTS of pictures, provided the planets align properly so that me, the camera, the objects-to-be-photographed, and natural daylight are all coincident in time and space.
Oh, and Norma (if you managed to get this far in a pictureless post) I think you might really enjoy this book:
A Perfect Red - Empire, Espionage, and the Quest for the Color of Desire, by Amy Butler Greenfield
I've only gotten through the first chapter, but it's pretty interesting.

Guess what MY favorite color is? Yup, and I just requested the book from the library based on your recommendation -- thanks!
Thanks for the book recommendation. I wonder if it's on CD yet....(the selection of books on CD is woefully small)...I love listening to them in the car. It's the only time I have to "read." If it goes as hoped, I will gain a lot of reading and knitting time in the new year and yet still remain nicely employed. Fingers crossed!!!
